CAMBRIDGE, ON, November 8, 2022 ? Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) started yesterday producing the fifth generation of the Lexus RX luxury SUV: the all-new 2023 Lexus RX.

In 2003, TMMC became Toyota?s first facility outside of Japan entrusted to produce Lexus vehicles ? a great honour within Toyota ? and has since assembled more than 1.5 million Lexus RX vehicles. Today, as well as the RX and RX hybrid, TMMC builds the Lexus NX and NX Hybrid, as well as the Toyota RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid.

?Producing the all-new 2023 Lexus RX 350, RX 350h and RX 500h for the North American market reflects the continued trust that Toyota Motor Corporation has in our world-class Canadian team members, our commitment to quality, and our customer focus,? said TMMC President, Frank Voss.

Canada?s largest auto manufacturer and leading maker of electrified vehicles, TMMC has manufactured vehicles in Canada for more than 30 years and currently employs more than 8,500 team members at its facilities in Cambridge and Woodstock, Ontario. Committed to producing vehicles in Canada, Toyota has invested more than CAD $9.8B in its Canadian operations since 1985 and has built more than nine million vehicles over that period of time.

TMMC?s culture is aligned with the Lexus focus on quality, making them one of the very best automotive manufacturing facilities in the world. This commitment to quality has earned TMMC a total of 20 J.D. Power Awards ? more than any other auto manufacturing plant in the Americas, and the second most of any plant globally.

About the 2023 Lexus RX

Crafted right here in Canada, the 2023 Lexus RX sets the stage for the next chapter of the Lexus brand.

The next chapter for Lexus is centered around four pillars: Design, Lexus Driving Signature, Electrification and Advanced Technology. The all-new RX plays a key role in leading the brand forward on each of these dimensions.

Design: The RX has been refined from the inside out. The signature Lexus spindle grille has evolved into a spindle body that seamlessly commands the front. And, perhaps the most notable expression of future Lexus design is the elegant new block letter ?LEXUS? rear badging and full-width tail lamp.

Lexus Driving Signature: Lexus Driving Signature results from an entirely new approach to vehicle development, wherein all performance characteristics and tuning decisions are approved at the highest level of the organization. This ensures a uniquely Lexus experience where each vehicle exhibits a direct, linear driving feel that is consistent across the lineup.

Electrification: TMMC will assemble two electrified options of the fifth generation RX, including the RX 350h powered by a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain, and RX 500h F SPORT with a 2.4-litre turbo hybrid powertrain.

Advanced Technology: The biggest enhancement to in-vehicle technology is the inclusion of the all-new Lexus Interface multimedia system. Developed in North America, Lexus Interface uses a standard 9.8-inch touchscreen to put an array of multimedia features within easy reach. On select models, the available 14-inch touch screen delivers an even more immersive multimedia experience. Lexus Interface incorporates a new virtual assistant, developed with a human-centric approach and intended to be the primary way in which guests interact with the new multimedia system. The system enables a voice-first approach to access navigation, media, phone, and certain vehicle features such as the climate control system and window opening/closing.

The cumulative reduction in CO2 emission is approximately 19 million tons.

Introduction of PHEV vehicles in 2021

Introduction of an all-electric BEV model in 2022

TORONTO, Ontario ? MAY 18, 2021 ? Lexus announced today that the luxury brand eclipsed the milestone of 2 million global sales of electrified vehicles at the end of April 2021.

Since the launch of the RX400h in 2005, Lexus has been a pioneer of electrification in the luxury market, and the models have continued to evolve on the mission of balancing excellent driving performance with environmental sensitivity. Lexus has continued to expand its lineup of electrified vehicles to provide a wide range of options tailored to meet the needs of our Guests and society. Based on a philosophy of "right time, right product, right place", Lexus hopes to further develop its electrified product portfolio to best respond to a varied range of energy sources and infrastructure environments encountered around the world.

As a result, Lexus now sells nine models of electrified vehicles, including HEVs and BEVs, in approximately 90 countries and regions around the world. In Canada, Lexus sells seven models of electrified vehicles. In 2020, 33% of the Lexus models sold globally were of the electrified variety. Since 2005, Lexus electrified vehicles have contributed to a cumulative reduction in CO2 emissions of approximately 19 million tons. This reduction is equivalent to the combined CO2 output of approximately 300,000 passenger cars each year for the past 15 years. Lexus will continue to lead the steady growth of electrified vehicles and the reduction of CO2 emissions in line with our corporate mission of carbon neutrality and Sustainable Development Goals.

Under the ?Lexus Electrified? vision announced in 2019, Lexus will evolve its electrification technology to realize enhanced vehicle performance characteristics and continue to provide customers with the fun and joy that the car brings. By 2025, Lexus will introduce 20 new or improved models, including more than 10 BEVs, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). That year is also the target for the brand to offer electrified vehicle options across the entire Lexus product range. The future expectation is that the sales of electrified models will exceed that of traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. In addition, by 2050, Lexus will achieve carbon neutrality throughout the entire vehicle lifecycle such as materials, parts, and vehicle manufacturing along with logistics, driving, and disposal/recycling.

In order to further accelerate the spread of electrified vehicles, Lexus plans to introduce the first PHEV in a mass-market model in 2021, and a completely new model dedicated to BEVs in 2022. In addition, by utilizing the electrification technologies such as motors, inverters, and batteries that Lexus has cultivated over the years in the field of HEVs, we will create new values and driving experiences unique to Lexus electrified vehicles.

Future Lexus electrified models will feature DIRECT4 and steer-by-wire systems. DIRECT4, our four-wheel-drive torque distribution technology, combines highly-precise drive force control with responsive steer-by-wire systems that greatly enhance vehicle reflexes, resulting in a high level of dynamic performance and a driving experience appealing to all five senses that is unmatched by conventional cars.

Lexus will continue to promote all possible initiatives for the realization of a sustainable society, while at the same time pursuing both the fun and enjoyment of cars. Lexus will endeavor to develop vehicles tailored to diversifying customers? needs.

Lexus will endeavor to develop vehicles tailored to diversifying customers? needs.

TORONTO, Ontario ? April 28, 2021 - Lexus today announced that ?Portable Solar Distiller? by Henry Glogau has won the Lexus Design Award 2021 Grand Prix, which drew 2,079 entries from 66 countries.

Chosen as the project that best encompasses ?Design for a Better Tomorrow? based on the three key principles of the Lexus brand -- Anticipate, Innovate and Captivate -- the Portable Solar Distiller provides clean drinking water from polluted water or sea water, using sunlight. Merging local resource production with community architecture, this low-tech solution also serves as a shaded gathering place.

"It?s a great honour to be selected as this year?s Grand Prix winner, and I?d like to say thank you to the judges. When you look at the level and quality of the finalists and their projects and the progress that has been made throughout, any one of us could have been the winner this year. I?d also like to thank the Mentors - their expertise in a variety of fields really strengthened not only our designs but us also as designers,? said Henry Glogau. ?We as finalists will cherish the thought-provoking questions and conversations we had, and we were so fortunate to experience them. And lastly, a massive thank you to Lexus. Being part of a prestigious award like this with a company that is truly passionate about Design for a Better Tomorrow, and which gives up-and-coming designers a platform and solid foundation to build their design futures on is incredible".

?Congratulations to the winner and it worked so well and provided mentorship and resources that let great ideas flourish. The winner was one of the designers who surprised me the most from the application to the final submission,? said Greg Lynn, Judge. ?The consistent mission of the winner persisted while the transformation in scale and social function was exemplary. The design became more refined, more functional and more open source during the process. The ability to produce working prototypes was important to all the participants but to the winner it pointed towards the manifold potential of the system that became much more than just a product or appliance but instead a portable, deployable infrastructure?.

The six finalists, selected in January of this year, were mentored by Joe Doucet, Sabine Marcelis, Mariam Kamara, and Sputniko!. These four world-class creators guided the finalists in surmounting challenges on?the way to the fully-refined proposals. The mentoring process was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is certain to impact each finalist?s career on the international design stage.

Lexus thanks the mentors, all vastly experienced masters of their fields, for generously sharing their specialized knowledge and encouraging the finalists to bring out the full potential of their ideas.

Lexus also pays tribute to Paola Antonelli, Dong Gong, Greg Lynn and Simon Humphries, the elite panels who judged the entries. Their uncompromising standards and incisive analysis make it possible for the Lexus Design Award to fulfill its mission of supporting the next generation of creators.

All six finalists, including the Grand Prix winner, Henry Glogau, have honoured us with their lively curiosity, professional attitude toward their work, and the impressive proposals that their creativity has brought into this world.

August 10, 2016) Lexus International today announced its call for entries for the Lexus Design Award 2017. First launched in 2013 to stimulate ideas for a better tomorrow, Lexus is celebrating the fifth year of its international design competition supporting up-and-coming designers and creators worldwide.

Last year, Canadian designer Angelene Laura Fenuta was selected as one of the top four finalists. Her design titled SHAPE SHIFTERS expressed the theme of ?Anticipation? by applying modular principles to textiles, allowing the creation of different outfits from a single garment. The making of SHAPE SHIFTERS can be found on YouTube.

The creative theme for the Lexus Design Award 2017 is ?Yet?

Applicants are invited to submit innovative designs and original interpretations that demonstrate insight into the essence of the ?Yet? theme.

?At Lexus, our Yet philosophy gives us the courage to combine elements that at first seem incompatible ? superior ride comfort YET exhilarating driving dynamics ? for example. With Yet, we don?t compromise; we harmonize to create synergy that reveals unexpected yet amazing new possibilities. Yet is the catalyst that triggers breakthroughs, the spark that ignites an explosion of creative potential. Yet drives Lexus to explore visionary frontiers of design and technology that will shape tomorrow?s mobility,? said Lexus International Executive Vice-President Yoshihiro Sawa.

Lexus Design Award 2017 will introduce 12 finalists and their works to the design community and beyond in a dedicated Lexus experiential space at Milan Design Week 2017*. Four of these 12 finalists will create prototypes of their designs under the mentorship of globally recognized designers. Each prototype will also be provided a production budget of up to three million JPY (approx. 38,500 CAD). The prototypes of the four finalists will be assessed by a panel of judges for the selection of the Grand Prix winner who may receive an opportunity to develop the prototype into a production model.

Lexus Design Award winners receive the benefit of global exposure and the potential for collaboration projects with the public and private sectors. Lexus is honoured to encourage and highlight emerging creative talent through the international opportunities generated by this competition.

Winners from previous Lexus Design Award competitions have been displaying their talent on the world stage. The 2015 Grand Prix Winner, Emanuela Corti and Ivan Parati?s SENSE WEAR, gained further exposure to design events in Tokyo, Japan and Moscow, Russia. The Grand Prix winner for 2016, design team AMAM?s AGAR PLASTICITY has attracted wide interest and invitations to participate in other international exhibits.

Entries to the Lexus Design Award 2017 competition will be accepted from August 10 through October 16. The 12 finalists will be announced in early 2017.

* The world?s largest design exhibition, also known as Salone Del Mobile, presents events and exhibits by brands and designers in many categories including furniture, fashion and textiles.

Neri & Hu / Architects and Interdisciplinary Designers Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, cofounders of Neri & Hu Design and Research based in Shanghai, have been working on projects around the world which incorporate overlapping design disciplines to create a new paradigm in architecture. In 2014, Wallpaper* announced Neri & Hu as 2014 Designer of The Year. In 2013, they were inducted into the U.S. Interior Design Hall of Fame. Neri & Hu believes strongly that research is a key design tool as each project brings its own unique set of contextual issues. Providing architecture, interior, master planning, graphic and product design services, Neri & Hu recognizes that contemporary problems relating to buildings extend beyond the boundaries of traditional architecture. Rather than starting from a formulaic design, Neri & Hu?s work is anchored in the dynamic interaction of experience, detail, material, form and light.

Max is not committed to a single material or process, nor is he attracted to design as a means to solve problems. Rather he exploits the qualities inherent in a material to draw out its natural tendencies and beauty. His methods are high- and low-tech, and he is both designer and manufacturer, collaborating with foundries and factories as the scale or complexity of the project necessitates. However, there is continuity in the principles that he applies ? honesty to material, a celebration of the process and of human capability, and its limitations.

Currently Graduate Chair at the Southern California Institute of Architecture she exhibits internationally and lectures widely having spoken at MIT, Princeton, Tsinghua University and Bauhaus. Sharing a mutual interest in the intersection of art and architecture since their student days together at Cooper Union in New York, their first commission was for Dior Homme. Deriving its name from Lewis Carroll?s fanciful poem ?The Hunting of the Snark?, Snarkitecture designs permanent, architectural scale projects and functional objects with new and imaginative purposes, creating moments of wonder and interaction that allow people to engage directly with the surrounding environment. Transforming the familiar into the extraordinary, Snarkitecture makes architecture perform the unexpected.

###

(TORONTO, ON. ?

MONTREAL, QC., June 22, 2016 ? Spinelli Lexus Lachine is now open for business in its new home ? an ultra-modern dealership at 210 Boulevard Montréal-Toronto.

To celebrate this exciting milestone, a special grand opening ceremony is taking place.

?We are thrilled that our customers can now enjoy this outstanding new facility,? said Pierre Spinelli, Dealer Principal. ?From the barista service and an aquarium in our lounge to our new express lube and tire service, everything about this dealership was created for the sole purpose of giving our customers the best possible experience whenever they come here.?

Jennifer Barron, Director of Lexus in Canada, added: ?This dealership is a perfect fit with everything Lexus represents ? passionate styling, inspiring innovation, the highest quality and delivering an exceptional experience. Congratulations to Pierre and his whole team for building this amazing facility.?

With an investment of $10 million, the new dealership in suburban Montreal is dramatically larger than the old one. The previous site covered 11,000 square feet. The new location spans 30,000 square feet, with another 135,000 surrounding it. It also has more staff available to serve customers, as the dealership has grown from 30 to 40 employees.

The service shop houses 13 bays, including two for express lube and tire work. Among new technologies in the shop to make service more efficient are shock-wave service lifts and the latest alignment and balancing machines.

The Lexus Lounge is a particular highlight of the building, which reflects the Japanese design concept of ?takumi? (master craftsmen). In addition to the aquarium and barista service, guests can enjoy two television screens and the use of iPads. There is also an outside terrace linked to the lounge, with comfortable chairs and quiet areas, as well as a lifestyle boutique and a dazzling new F Sport showroom.

Environmental sustainability is another key element of the facility. For example, there is a special heat recuperation system and all the lighting is compliant with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.

The dealership is in a very convenient location, passed by approximately 150,000 cars per day. It?s just 15 minutes from downtown Montreal, and 11 minutes from Montréal Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International Airport. As a unique offering tied to that proximity, all Lexus guests can enjoy free valet service to and from the airport. Their vehicles are washed and safely stored while they are away.

Spinelli Lexus Lachine has long been a leader in the community and that continues in its new home. Over the last 25 years, the dealership has provided more than $1.5 million in contributions to organizations such as the Lachine Hospital, Lakeshore Hospital, Centraide, West Island Community Shares, Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal (OSM), Concerts Lachine, Le Garde-Manger and local colleges.
