Supporting Canadian Communities – Our COVID-19 Response

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt and affect our lives, Toyota (Toyota Canada, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and Toyota Financial Services) is taking a number of actions to support our communities across the country.

While we will continue to reach out to governments, public health authorities, suppliers and other businesses to offer our help and support, here are a few examples of what we’ve already done - and what we’re working on - to support Canadian communities as they respond to this pandemic:

Financing:

  • Lexus Financial Services (LFS) is working hard to support their customers through these exceptional circumstances. Guests can request payment relief by calling the LFS customer service department at 1‑800‑26‑LEXUS and accommodations will be made on a case-by-case basis.

  • For LFS customers with leases coming due, the company is also being flexible in granting lease end extensions. To request a lease extension, Guests should contact their Lexus Dealer first.

Donations:

  • Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC), where the Lexus RX is manufactured, has donated approximately 1000 NIOSH-certified N95 ventilator masks to four local hospitals.

  • Additionally, TMMC has donated gloves, protective eyewear and sanitary boot protectors to the same hospitals.

Other Actions:

  • Currently, TMMC is working with Inksmith, a 3D printing company, to fabricate protective face masks using six 3D printers at their production facilities:

    • Using Toyota Production System expertise, TMMC has already streamlined the design of the masks, reducing production time from five hours to 3.5 hours.

    • TMMC is also enlisting more partners within the community to increase output.

  • TMMC is currently connecting with industrial partners and governments to discuss the potential fabrication of components used in medical equipment, including ventilators.

  • TMMC is offering its Toyota Production System expertise in collaboration with manufacturing and technology companies to develop improved testing infrastructure for COVID-19.

Please note: At this time, Toyota and Lexus Canada is not asking its team members to participate in any community activities / volunteering. We do not want to put any team members at risk.

These are just some of the activities Toyota and Lexus are undertaking to help support our Canadian communities as they respond to this pandemic. As we continue to take further actions, we will share them with you.
