Jennifer Torosian x Lexus

Lexus partners with local Toronto fashion designer to produce unique capsule collection for 2018 Auto Show circuit inspired by the automotive brand's commitment to brave design, supple materials and sleek styling

TORONTO, ON – February 15, 2018 – It’s not just the sleek lines of the latest concept and production vehicles that will be turning heads in the Lexus display at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto and throughout the auto show circuit this season.  Toronto designer Jennifer Torosian has drawn inspiration from the brand’s feature vehicles, bold new booth design and streamlined aesthetic to curate a unique capsule collection worn by brand representatives and product specialists on the show floor.

Brave Design is one of the core pillars that bring the Lexus Experience to life, along with Imaginative Technology, Takumi Craftsmanship, Exhilarating Performance and Omotenashi (the Japanese art of hospitality).  These values are front and centre at Lexus, ensuring that Guests truly ‘Experience Amazing’  (the brand’s global tagline) from the moment they step into a Lexus vehicle, dealership, auto show booth and beyond.

“Brave design is a core value of the Lexus brand, and we are honoured to be supporting Canadian talent by spotlighting one of Canada’s rising fashion design stars,” said Jennifer Barron, Director of Lexus in Canada. “The elegant and stylish looks Jennifer has created for the men and women representing us at the auto show this season are a perfect fit with Lexus.”

Jennifer Torosian is a renowned Canadian women’s ready-to-wear fashion designer known for her refreshing and refined take on classic silhouettes articulated by attention to detail, fluidity and functionality, and the creation of luxurious looks without a pretentious attitude – values shared by both Torosian and Lexus.

“We are thrilled to partner with Lexus Canada for the 2018 Canadian Auto Show circuit.   Collaborating on this project has been a great opportunity for us to showcase our modern sensibilities and design an exclusive capsule collection for their brand,” says Torosian.  “We drew inspiration from many stunning Lexus vehicle designs and combined those aspects with our aesthetic to create a collection that is sophisticated and contemporary.”

A total of three women’s looks and two men’s looks emphasizing luxury and utility with an edge have been developed for Lexus.  Details include:

  • Asymmetrical hem dress in Italian fabric presents a sleek silhouette articulated with a contemporary sensibility.   Cut out details around the neckline and contrast top-stitching accentuating the hemline complete the look

  • Sophisticated and modern suiting, featuring a crop jacket and slim pant of Italian fabric.  The feminine tailoring is accentuated by a pleated detail on the back of the jacket and top stitch detailing on shape-lines, cuff and inseam

  • A thin tie blouse adds an elegant touch, with full sleeve, soft gathering and tonal ribbon detail on the cuff presenting airy and effortless sophistication

Menswear:

  • Modern tailoring and slim suiting using high performance (durable and water-repellent) 100% Italian wool

  • Fine Italian shirting of 100% cotton cut in a modern fit

A cool colour palette of silver-grey highlights the overall collection, accentuated with contrast top stitching and asymmetrical tailoring.   To see how these elements drew inspiration from the luxury automotive brand, one needs look no further than the stunning LS+ Concept making its North American debut at the Toronto Auto Show on February 15th

Lexus LS+ Concept

The LS+ Concept expresses the future direction of Lexus styling, as applied to the LS series flagship sedan. Notable exterior features include a new Spindle Grille with large shutter that enhances both cooling and aerodynamic performance. Headlamps and rear combination lamps are partially laser-lit, while the traditional side mirrors are completely replaced with electronic technology that displays images inside the cabin. The LS+ also showcases state of the art technologies including “Highway Teammate”, which would enable completely autonomous driving on limited access highways such as the 400 series in Ontario. The vehicle features onboard artificial intelligence, which can perform merges, lane changes, lane keeping, and help provide adequate space around the vehicle. The AI also connects with a Lexus data centre to allow Lexus to easily add new functions, and it learns from road and other sources to enhance its performance. The LS is a vehicle that can grow along with its driver, representing a new age of vehicles to which people can become emotionally attached.

The 2018 Canadian International Auto Show takes place February 16-25 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
