All-Encompassing Luxury, All-Terrain Performance – It’s All Possible with the 2020 Lexus GX 460

Authentic body-on-frame SUV features uncompromising luxurious details while gaining new standard off-roading and safety technologies

TORONTO, ON – September 24, 2019 – Built for the glampers and gravel-crushers alike, enjoy the freedom to explore almost any terrain with the Lexus GX 460 – the true body-on-frame SUV that seamlessly blends rugged performance with craftsmanship and luxury, while enveloping its passengers in comfort and security. For the 2020 model year, Lexus updates the GX 460 inside and out, with upgraded off-roading technologies and other features, plus added safety and fresh style. What’s more, when compared to the 2019 GX 460 line-up the 2020 entry model includes a lot more off-roading technology right out of the gate. Now offered with the additional capabilities and amenities of the Premium Package as standard, this glamourous beast includes a superior bundle of upgrades at a starting MSRP that’s $1,600 less than the closest equivalent 2019 model.

““Thanks to its authentic, luxurious body-on-frame SUV, higher seating position and its commanding view of the road, wherever they’re headed, our discerning Lexus Guests will feel even safer and more secure,” said Robert Tsang, Director of Lexus in Canada.   “We’ve enhanced the GX inside, outside and underneath the vehicle – from technology to off-roading capability.  We’re confident it’s the perfect choice for Canadians looking to do it all – and do it in style.”

New for 2020, all GX models are now standard equipped with the Multi-Terrain Monitor with Underfloor View and the Bird’s Eye View Monitor. These two systems enhance driver confidence by allowing a full view around the GX – including under it, which is particularly useful when navigating rough terrain. All GX models are also now factory-fitted with Lexus Safety System +, completing the availability of this bundle of active safety technologies as standard on all Lexus models available in Canada.

With these added standard features, the GX continues to raise the bar for true SUV capability without compromising on the ride comfort, striking design and impressive amenities for which Lexus is known. All 2020 GX models also receive a newly designed steering wheel and shift knob, a new 4.2” full-colour multi-information display, an additional USB port on the console end panel, updated alloy wheels, and redesigned triple LED headlamps.

Go-anywhere capability starts with power and performance, without sacrificing safety. The GX 460 is built around a 4.6L V8 able to generate 301 peak horsepower and up to 329 lb-ft of torque while also being impressively efficient. This is mated to a six-speed automatic super electronically controlled transmission with gate-type shifter, which delivers power to the wheels via a full-time 4WD drive train. Ready for any pavement – or no pavement at all – the GX features authentic body on frame construction and the Lexus Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System.  High seating position provides a superior view of the road, providing a secure, vault-like feeling as the driver navigates to their destination.  Meantime, when towing is required the GX answers the call, with an active height control suspension system and automatic load levelling rear air suspension system, plus 4+7 pin wiring harnesses and up to a 2,948 kg (6,500 lb) towing capability.

Regardless of the destination, the GX gets you there in style. The GX’s standard Sport Design treatment amplifies its commanding curbside presence with a striking front fascia treatment, then adds a dimension of dynamism with front and rear spoilers, stainless steel exhaust tip, newly designed triple LED headlamps, and LED rear combination lamps, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps, a power moon roof, heated and power-folding electro-chromatic exterior mirrors, illuminated running boards, roof rails, and rain sensing wipers.

Inside, the Lexus GX welcomes driver and up to six passengers to a refined environment that’s sturdy in design yet polished to perfection. The spacious interior is remarkably versatile, letting guests personalize their comfort and take on the passenger and cargo needs of almost any occasion. Seats are cloaked in genuine leather, with power adjustable heated and ventilated front seats including a driver’s seat memory system, a 40/20/40split folding second row seat with recline function on right and left seats, heated outboard seating positions, and a power folding 50/50 split third row seat. Stowing all of the seats opens up 1.8 cubic metres (64.7 cubic feet) of room for gear.

When guests aren’t marvelling at the serenity of the quiet cabin, they can crank up the tunes for a spirited drive.  Every GX 460 is factory fitted with a Mark Levinson Premium Audio system. Designed exclusively for the GX, this 330-watt system features 17 speakers and a 7.1-channel surround sound architecture, and is enhanced with Bluetooth connectivity, integrated Sirius XM Satellite Radio and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.

As a Lexus, the 2020 GX 460 also delivers impressive safety performance. In addition to those already mentioned, the GX 460’s extensive list of standard safety features and technologies includes a back-up camera, clearance and backup sensors, the Lexus blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert systems, 10 air bags, an onboard first aid kit, anti-theft system, and a direct tire pressure monitoring system.

The 2020 Lexus GX 460 (starting MSRP: $75,950) is offered at the Premium Package trim level – including more standard features, including features that boost the GX’s already impressive off-roading capabilities, at a starting MSRP that’s $1,600 less than the closest equivalent model (the 2019 GX with Technology Package). The 2020 GX features a voice-activated navigation system, three-zone independent automatic climate control, electroluminescent instrumentation, a new 4.2” full colour multi-information display with Lexus customizable features, an eco indicator, power windows with jam protection, a new heated, wood and leather wrapped steering wheel, a new wood and leather wrapped shift knob, mahogany interior trim, illuminated “Lexus” scuff plates, integrated garage door opener, the Lexus Smart Key System with Push Button Start, clearance and backup sensors and a 120 volt, 100-watt power outlet.

  • This model may also be ordered with the available Executive Package (starting MSRP: $81,950), which is $400 less than the 2019 executive model. The 2020 model upgrades with Premium Package features with newly designed 19” alloy wheels, then adds a rear seat entertainment system, front console cool box, multi-terrain select system, a transmission cooler, and fuel tank protector plates. New for this year, this package also receives a more precise, five-stage crawl control system – upgraded from the three-stage system found on the 2019 model.
