TORONTO, ONTARIO – AUGUST 25, 2021 – All-encompassing luxury meets all-terrain performance in the Lexus GX 460. For 2022, the stunning SUV introduces the new GX Black Line Special Edition to its lineup, offering Lexus owners a new way to express their style. Now equipped with refined center console with updated 10.3-inch multimedia touchscreen, GX Guests can enjoy an even more seamless in-cabin experience.
“The Lexus GX 460 is the perfect blend of comfort and luxury that’s well mannered on the road yet more than ready to tame the toughest trail,” said Martin Gilbert, Director of Lexus in Canada. “This year, we’ve enhanced all models with new touchscreen-based connectivity packages. Plus, we’re excited to introduce our guests to two new choices. With the limited production Black Line Edition, our designers bring this distinctive Lexus styling package to the GX. Meantime, our Signature edition provides a new entry point into luxury adventure.”
The GX 460 is the luxury mid-size SUV that delivers genuine off-road capability, starting with a classic body-on-frame design that can take almost any punishment thrown at it – and deliver its driver and passengers to their destination in comfort. Lexus engineers carefully crafted the GX to isolate the cabin from the frame, maximizing its ability to absorb bumps and vibrations so occupants don’t have to. The body-on-frame configuration also raises reliability when the going gets tough.
As befitting a true off-roader, the GX conveys a commanding presence. Triple LED headlamps with a pronounced Lexus L motif flank an aggressive front grille, while front and rear spoilers add a dimension of dynamism. New for this year, Lexus adds Caviar Metallic to the available body colour choices on the Signature, Premium, and Executive trim levels.
Inside, a cabin that’s intentionally sturdy in design is then polished to an elegant finish. The instrument panel appears as if forged from a single block of steel, while wood and aluminum trim provides a delightful contrasts. There’s room for seven, with three rows of seats cloaked in leather and providing impressive levels of comfort.
All new for 2022, all Lexus GX 460 models are now equipped with Lexus Navigation with Remote Connect. This powerful yet intuitive connectivity package includes Service Connect, Safety Connect, Remote Connect, and navigation with a 10.3” touchscreen display and the Lexus Remote Touch interface. Additional enhancements to the vehicle’s multimedia system include full compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Additional features of note include three-zone independent automatic climate control, a 4.2” full-colour multi-information display, eight-way power adjustable front seats with driver’s seat memory system, 40/20/40 folding second row seats, and 50/50 third row seats that fold flush with the floor to maximize cargo space.
Wherever the journey takes you, the GX 460 is the ideal travelling companion. Its 301 horsepower 4.6L V8 delivers powerful and smooth on-road performance. A six-speed super electronically controlled automatic transmission features shift points optimized for smooth effortless acceleration, spirited responsiveness, and fuel efficiency. Fitted with a gate-type shifter, GX drivers may also enjoy a manual shift experience.
Meantime, its 329 lb-ft of torque – including ample low-end torque – make the GX 460 an excellent tow vehicle with a 2,948 kg (6,500 lb) rating. The automatic load leveling rear air suspension and trailer sway control brake system enhance driver control while towing.
The GX 460 indulges a passion for adventure with an array of innovative handling and control technologies. Full-time four-wheel-drive with active traction control makes the GX 460 more than capable of carrying Lexus guests off the beaten path and back again.
As a Lexus, every GX 460 is impressively equipped with state-of-the-art safety features, headlined by Lexus Safety System +. This portfolio of active safety technologies supports the driver’s awareness and decision-making under a range of traffic conditions and contingencies. Other safety systems include 10 airbags, the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a backup camera, and front and rear clearance sonar systems.
