TORONTO, NOVEMBER 25, 2025 – Can rugged functionality and capability be luxurious? Of course it can, if it’s the Lexus GX – the authentic SUV that has proven, for more than 20 years, that go-anywhere performance, bold style, and exceptional comfort and amenities are possible for those who are ready to pursue amazing adventures. New for 2026, the Sophisticated Utility Vehicle is now safer than ever, as Lexus enhances every GX package of active safety technologies.
“For more than 20 years, the Lexus GX has encouraged Canadian Guests to go beyond the pavement –and the adventure continues for 2026 with this SUV’s winning combination of impressive capability, rugged styling, modern luxury, and state of the art technology,” said Martin Gilbert, Director of Lexus Canada. “When our Guests are ready to pursue adventures beyond the horizon, the GX has the powertrain – enhanced with state of the art handling and control technologies – that’s ready to take them there. This year, we’ve enhanced the Signature grade – the foundation model on which all others are built – to ensure every GX is also packed with exceptional Lexus safety technology.”
Impressive performance – on or off the road – demands an impressive powertrain, and every 2026 GX adventure story starts under the hood. Here, Lexus engineers mated a 3.4 L twin turbo V6 to a 10-speed Direct Shift automatic with paddle shifters. This generates 349 peak horsepower and up to 479 lb-ft of torque – all delivered to a full-time four-wheel-drive powertrain that includes a Torsen limited slip locking rear differential. This powertrain enables the GX to tow up to 9,063 pounds, while achieving a fuel efficiency rating of 13.5L / 100km (city/highway combined).
The 2026 GX is built on the Lexus GA-F platform to maximize rigidity and deliver impressive on-road handling. At the same time, it’s engineered for go-anywhere capability. The GA-F platform maximizes suspension performance, creates stable wheel articulation, and delivers highly consistent tire contact, making the GX able to withstand twisty off-road forces while maintaining in-cabin stability.
The GX broadcasts its remarkable capability through its body design, which features a square-body profile and aggressive stance that’s optimized for the trail and beyond. This SUV announces its presence powerfully, via a seamless grille, auto-levelling triple beam LED headlights with an auto levelling headlamp system, and a heated LEXUS front emblem. The rear sports the signature Lexus unified L-shaped light bar and LEXUS logo, plus a power rear lift door with pop-out window. Engineers also ensured the GX would be a stable foundation upon which to mount adventure accessories – from rooftop tents to recovery kits. Other notable exterior details include headlamp washers, power-folding, reverse auto-tilting, and heated side mirrors, roof rails, a rear spoiler, rain sensing wipers, and an intermittent rear window wiper.
Open the doors, and the GX welcomes Guests to a luxurious and modern cabin that’s offered in a choice of three grade-specific seating configurations. Every model features heated and ventilated front row seats, a heated and full leather-wrapped steering wheel, and multi-zone automatic climate control. The instrument panel features a strong, horizontal design that provides drivers with superior forward and side visibility. In-cabin storage includes an extra large console box and door pockets. There’s plenty of space for go-anywhere adventure gear in the cargo area, which also features a 120-volt/400-watt AC power outlet.
Every 2026 GX is impressively equipped with advanced yet intuitive technology features, headlined by the Lexus Interface. This Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-compatible multimedia and connectivity system features a 14-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity, and Sirius XM Satellite compatibility. The Lexus Interface incorporates a natural language virtual assistant that enables a voice-first approach to navigation, media, communication, and other vehicle features. In addition, all Lexus Interface connected services may be controlled from a smart phone equipped with the Lexus App. Other technology features include a 12.3-inch full-colour multi-information display and multiple USB charging ports.
As a Lexus, every GX is impressively equipped with state of the art safety features. New this year, all models are now fitted with Lexus Safety System +3.0 Extended – a portfolio of Lexus active safety technologies that supports the driver’s awareness and decision-making under a range of traffic conditions and contingencies. Other standard safety systems include the Blind Spot Monitor System with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a tire pressure monitoring system with auto location, 10 airbags, a backup camera with Back Guide Monitor and camera washer, and the Rear Seat Reminder system.
Lexus offers Canadian Guests a choice of six powerful, luxurious, and capable GX grades:
