WHAT’S NEW: 2013 LEXUS RX 350

HIGHLIGHTS
|
As Canada’s most popular Lexus vehicle, the Canadian built 2013 Lexus RX 350, is immediately recognizable by the new face of Lexus, the spindle grille. The 2013 model sports a number of exciting enhancements, including an updated exterior and additional interior comfort. With a starting MSRP of $44,950, the 2013 RX 350 offers the same price as last year’s model, while featuring additional standard equipment. Furthermore, the RX 350 may now be ordered as an available F Sport model, built exclusively at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) plant in Cambridge. Designed and tuned as a top performance model, the RX 350 F Sport model offers many unique features, including an eight-speed automatic transmission, F Sport-tuned suspension and much more.

POWERTRAIN AND PERFORMANCE
|
- The 2013 Lexus RX 350 and the new 2013 Lexus F SPORT both feature a 3.5L V6 engine generating an output of 270 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, along with Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) that is used to control both intake and exhaust camshafts independently, optimizing engine performance at many speeds and loads.
- The RX 350 and F SPORT both have Electronically Controlled Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i). The F SPORT boasts an eight-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters as standard equipment, yielding quick shifting response with help from miniature high-flow linear solenoids that allow more precise clutch operation. The torque converter uses a low-speed lockup dampener to enable lock-up from first to eighth gear to help improve fuel economy.
- The RX 350 and RX 350 F SPORT come standard with an electronically controlled Active Torque Control AWD system. Active Torque Control AWD uses an electronically controlled coupling ahead of the rear differential to vary torque distribution anywhere from 100:0 to 50:50 front to rear, depending on driving dynamics and road conditions. When accelerating, or starting off on a low-grip surface, torque is quickly provided to all four wheels. At steady speeds, torque is sent only to the front wheels, enhancing fuel efficiency.
- The F SPORT’s sport-tuned suspension possesses a unique, front and rear lower lateral performance damper system that absorbs and minimizes body vibrations, resulting in a more linear steering feel and enhanced ride comfort. The F SPORT also comes standard with Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) handling technology that anticipates loss of vehicle control and governs all of the vehicle’s dynamic handling systems – the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC) – with the electronic throttle control system. The system deploys them collectively and seamlessly to help make corrections while allowing higher dynamic capability.
- The F SPORT is exclusively equipped with 19-inch split five-spoke wheels with 235/55R/19 tires. These tires are optional for the RX 350.

- New and upgraded features in the RX 350 for the 2013 model year include:
- Enhancements to the exterior: revised tail lamps, now featuring vortex generators and modified lenses; updated rear license plate garnish; all-new front fascia, sporting Lexus signature spindle grille, new headlamps (with LED light strip) and revised fog lamp bezel; power tailgate
- Improvements to the interior: New steering wheel design; garage door opener location moved from overhead console to more convenient rear-view mirror; centre console box reconfigured to feature more hidden storage compartments, pen holder in the lid, wider opening angle and the ability to hold larger items such as a tablet computer
- Audio and technology upgrades: USB audio input now standard and is easier to access; dedicated “fan off” button for HVAC units; headlamp warning (chime and displayed message) for when headlamps are left on
- The 2013 RX 350 F SPORT comes with a wide range of special features:
- Exterior: exclusive front fascia with larger honeycomb upper and lower grilles, unique fog lamp bezels, standard HID headlamps; exclusive 19” wheels have dark finish; exterior badges on front fenders
- Interior: exclusive shift lever, scuff plates and aluminum pedal set, including footrest; unique trim pieces; black headliner; black leather seats with white-grey stitching and perforations, seat heaters and ventilation
- Audio and technology: heads-up display that projects simple navigation directions, audio information and vehicle speed on the windshield for an enhanced focus on the road while driving; 15-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system with navigation

- Touring Package provides everything in the Premium Package 2, plus a range of additional options: P235/55R19 tires and 19” aluminum alloy wheels; 12-speaker Lexus premium audio; rear subwoofer; wallet-size smart card key; voice-activated HDD navigation system with remote touch; backup camera in navigation display; XM real-time traffic capability for locking and unlocking;
- Ultra Premium Package 1 has the same features as the Touring Package, but with extras:vehicle dynamics integrated management (VDIM); heated steering wheel; wood and leather-wrapped steering wheel; rear cupholder woodgrain trim; front illuminated doorsill trim; 15-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound audio system; single in-dash DVD; 7.1 channel surround sound speaker architecture; intuitive parking assist; head-up display; front-seat power thigh support; semi-aniline leather seat surfaces; package with blind-spot monitor and lane-change assist also available
- Ultra Premium Package 2: builds on the Ultra Premium Package 1, with: two sets of headphones, dual-screen rear-seat DVD entertainment system; 120V/400-watt power outlet; package with blind-spot monitor and lane-change assist also available
